You know you're from here if....
1. You casually drop a “fun fact” about A League of Their Own anytime baseball comes up. Maybe you’ve said it once. Maybe you’ve said it a hundred times. Either way, everyone in earshot now knows that A League of Their Own was filmed right here at our historic Bosse Field. And you say it with pride every single time.
2. You’ve given directions using landmarks that no longer exist. “Turn where the old Walmart used to be” makes perfect sense to locals. Somehow, everyone still knows exactly where you mean.
3. The first week of October is sacred. Sampling the most outrageous (and somehow still delicious) fried creations you can find at the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is a time-honored tradition we take seriously. Deep-fried Oreos? Sure. Brain sandwiches? Why not. It’s all part of the experience.
4. You have strong opinions about the best coffee shop in town. And you’ll defend your choice, whether it’s Penny Lane, River City, Honey Moon, Donut Bank, or another local favorite, because the vibe (and the brew) just hits different there.
5. The Lloyd. Everyone in the city has an opinion or story about the main thoroughfare that spans from the east to the west side (and beyond). We've all probably used it as an excuse for being late once or twice.
6. You’ve got at least one mural photo on your camera roll. Our walls are practically galleries now, and thanks to our mural map, you can make a whole afternoon of chasing them down.
7. You’ve checked the weather before going anywhere because it loves to surprise us. If variety is the spice of life, our changing weather keeps things interesting.
8. You know that any quick trip to the grocery store will take longer than planned. Not because of lines, but because you’ll inevitably run into at least three people you know.
