Step Back in Time at Angel Mounds

Just outside of Evansville, you will find one of the most well-preserved Native American sites in North America. Spanning 600 acres, Angel Mounds State Historic Site features 11 earthen mounds that were brilliantly aligned with the cosmos by the Mississippian people centuries ago. Spring is the perfect time to explore the grounds, especially with their seasonal lineup of events. The site also has a bunch of scenic trails that twist and turn through the lush landscape, perfect for a peaceful stroll or a more serious hike. It's a great way to soak in the natural beauty and get your steps in while exploring the historic grounds.

Newburgh Farmers Market

Find Fresh Eats at the Historic Newburgh Farmers Market

Nothing says spring quite like a Saturday morning spent strolling through a farmers market. Starting May 25, the Historic Newburgh Farmers Market takes over the Edgewater Grille parking lot at the corner of State and Water Streets. Running from 8:00 AM to noon, this producer-only market guarantees that everything you buy was grown or crafted within a 60-mile radius. Grab a coffee, pick up some fresh local produce, and enjoy the gorgeous views overlooking the Ohio River.

Harmonie State Park

Hit the Trails at Harmonie State Park

If you want to get lost in nature, take a short drive out of Evansville to Harmonie State Park. Nestled right on the banks of the Wabash River in New Harmony, this park is an absolute paradise for trail lovers. You can hike, ride your bike, or take your mountain bike through the pristine ravines and shady woods. While you are there, keep an eye out for Say’s Firefly, Indiana’s official state insect, named after Thomas Say, a prominent scientist who lived in New Harmony in the 1820s.

Franklin St Bazaar

Shop Local at the Franklin Street Bazaar

Mark your calendars, because opening day for the Franklin Street Bazaar is May 30! Head down to the West Branch Library lawn for this beloved community event. It's the ultimate Saturday morning hangout. You will find a fantastic mix of local farmers, bakers, craftspeople, and food trucks serving up delicious treats. Beyond the shopping, the Bazaar also features live music and yoga on the lawn. It is a fantastic way to support local creators while enjoying a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
