A recreational development like this has been needed for far too long. Now, locals and visitors alike are thrilled that the Evansville Region has the largest concrete skatepark in Indiana! Here's all the gnarly details.
Sunset Skatepark is super unique! The park itself sits on the Ohio Riverfront in Downtown Evansville, Indiana.
Downtown Evansville visitors are not only enjoying beautiful river views, they're catching some air! Since its opening in December 2023, skateboarders are often seen dropping-in against the backdrop of eye-catching sunsets.
So, what does Sunset Skatepark have to offer?
Designed by Indiana-based Hunger Skateparks, Sunset was inspired by the wants and needs the community, including the skate community, roller derby, and BMX riders. This is a true all-wheels skatepark!
The 27,000 square foot park features a hybrid roller rink/skatepark zone, flow bowl, pool bowl, long adaptive ledges, street park style areas, and a separated multi-jump line specially designed for bikes. Most features have several uses. The concrete track, for example, can be used for roller derby and for learning how to ride a bike.
Best of all, its a safe space for members of the skating community to gather, learn new tricks, have some fun!
Sunset Skatepark is open daily from dawn to 11pm, and is open to everyone. The goal of the park is to provide a place for people of all ages to learn or perfect new skills. And...Admission is always free!
The park is located in-between Evansville's Mickey's Kingdom playground and the new Sunrise Pump Station, and is easily accessible from the Downtown Evansville greenway walking path.
Ready to kickflip? Strap on your helmet and roll on over to the Evansville Region! There's a skating community waiting for you.
