Where to Play

Hey, we don’t blame you if you’d rather jump in and play to win. There’s a time for spectating - and there’s a time to play. If you fall into the latter group, the Evansville Region has a wide variety of Fall and Winter sports for adults and children.

For Adults

1. Metro Sports Center Adult Soccer League

If you’re that big kid who never grew up, this league is for you. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, there’s a spot for everyone in these indoor soccer leagues.

Registration is by team, so you’ll need at least eight people to register. Anyone without a team is welcome to register as a free agent, but it’s not a 100% guarantee that you’ll get placed on a team. The regular adult soccer fee is $85 per player for ages 18 - 80. There are both co-ed and men’s leagues that you can sign up for.

2. City of Evansville Sports Department

The City of Evansville has a diverse offering of adult Fall and Winter leagues that’ll keep you on your toes all season long. Here are just a few options you have to choose from:

  • Fall softball: 5-week, 10-game leagues
  • Fall sand volleyball: co-ed, men’s, and women’s leagues available
  • Indoor volleyball: co-ed, women’s, and drop-in leagues available
  • Pickleball: single, six-play, and monthly passes are available
  • Flag football: 8 games in 8 weeks played on Sundays
  • Soccer: 8 games in 8 weeks played on Sundays

For Kids

1. Metro Sports Center Youth Soccer League (Ages 5 - 16)

The beauty of what Metro Sports Youth Soccer offers is that it’s a no-cut indoor soccer league where every kid makes the team. But don’t let that fool you into thinking there won’t be a focus on teaching your kids good form and technique. These leagues are run by professional coaches who know what it takes to help your kids learn the skills of teamwork and footwork.

Seasons start periodically throughout the year, with a skill assessment before each season begins. For less than $200 per player, you and your kids will surely enjoy this league together.

2. YMCA Winter Sports

The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana offers a wide variety of indoor Winter sports, including archery, basketball, gymnastics, ninjanastics, NERF, running club, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. So, no matter what your kiddo is interested in, you’re sure to find a way to burn off all that extra energy from being cooped up inside.

Seasons begin in early January with open practices and optional skill evaluations. Game schedules are emailed and posted online by January 25th, with games starting on January 28th. You can call the sports department at 812-491-7720 to learn more about registration fees and to sign your child up for the Winter sports season.

3. Swonder Ice Arena

The Swonder Ice Arena is Evansville’s premier ice rink, perfect for all ages. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a family night of ice skating or learn new skills, here’s what you can find this season at Swonder.

  • Learn to Skate: Choose from five skill levels: Snowplow (3-5 years), Basic Skills (6 years+), Pre-free skate, Specialty classes, and Teen/Adult. You can find more information and book your next session here.
  • Hockey 101: Learn all things hockey with the Evansville Youth Hockey Association and the Evansville Thunder. You’ll learn sating skills, puck control, and hockey maneuvers to take your hockey skills to the next level. The price is $85 per participant for a 6-week program.
